Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

Give Thanks

A quick search of the New Testament on the online ESV reveals that word “thank” appears 66 times.  As believers we should live in a state of constant thanksgiving.

Consider three areas of gratitude:

  1. Life: physical and spiritual.  The Lord gave you life here on earth… and in his Son, life eternal.  Be thankful.

  2. Material blessing: We spend most of our lives focused on what we wish we had but don’t.  Do you have a roof?  Clothing?  Food in the pantry?  Be thankful.

  3. Relationship: Do you have brothers and sisters in Christ who love you?  Be thankful.

Call the person you are discipling and let them know you are thankful for them.  Encourage them to do the same with someone else.

Happy Thanksgiving from R3ally.org.

This Thanksgiving may of us will be with family members who don’t know Jesus.  In this terrific post at desiringGod.org, David Mathis gives 10 great tips for sharing Christ with family members.  This list is great for any time of year, but is especially helpful over the next few days as many of us will engage extended family-members.
